Dr. Timothy Curl is a lifelong Newport resident, who graduated from Newport High School and then earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati. He completed a Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree in Organizational Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University. After years of clinical experience in nursing he served as the Dean of Nursing for two nursing programs and was the Staff Development Educator at a local rehabilitation hospital. Tim currently coordinates business health clinics and community events for a local business health division, and presents nursing state board review sessions for nursing graduates across the country. As an alumni of Newport Schools he served on a committee to develop the then, Newport Middle School health clinic, spoke with junior and senior high school students about nursing as a profession, and was a former coach of boys and girls basketball
Dr. Curl has had extensive leadership, practice, management, and teaching experience as a nurse and an educator. As Dean of Nursing he was responsible for the hiring and development of faculty, the development and administration of the curriculum, teaching various courses, and served as an academic coach to prepare nursing graduates to take the nursing state board examination.
Dr. Curl’s community service includes, but not limited to serving on the board for Redwood School, serving as an elder at two local churches, and a recently appointed to the Newport Independent School District Board.
Tim’s passions are his wife, two adult children that both graduated from NHS, five grandchildren, nursing, and education. He enjoys following college basketball, Bengals and Reds.
