Parent Survey for 20-21 Re-opening Plans.

The Kentucky Department of Public Health has established safety expectations for schools to mitigate transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

These include:
• Social Distancing
• Screening, school exclusion & contact tracing
• Cloth masks and personal protective equipment
• Sanitation, environmental, and industrial factors

As we begin planning for the 20-21 school year, we value the input and feedback of our Newport families. This survey was created as a guide to identify areas of concern as we create re-opening plans during the pandemic. Please answer each question honestly, as results are anonymous. This information will be used to make decisions regarding the 20-21 school year, as we navigate the "Healthy at School" recommendations.

Please complete the survey by July 6, 2020.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Enrollment During Non-Traditional Instruction

Any parent of guardian of an out of state student needing enrollment should follow the link to begin the process online. The Newport School enrolling that out of state student will work with the family to coordinate delivery of any applicable school work as we navigate through these Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days. If the student is currently enrolled in another Kentucky Public School, that student should complete her or his NTI days with their current school district. Once regular classes resume we will enroll that student. Thank you for understanding that all Kentucky schools are currently, conducting NTI at this time.

Dear Newport Community,

I am reaching out to students, parents, families and members of the community to introduce myself as the new superintendent of the Newport Independent Schools. I thank the Newport Board of Education for their confidence in me, I express admiration for the job performed by Superintendent Kelly Middleton and I look forward to serving the school district and the community for many years to come.

While we have much to celebrate, including our 2020 graduating class, we are also dealing with unprecedented situations outside of our control that are demanding our patience, fortitude, resilience and understanding.

NEWPORT – The Newport Independent Schools has taken steps to provide free meals - breakfast and lunch - to any child age 18 and under this summer.

No registration or application is required. Funding for the program comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Fresh and nutritious meals are being served Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for lunch at the following Newport school locations:
