Dear Newport Family
Jan 14, 2021
Tomorrow will be an all-virtual instructional day for the district for precautionary measures. Unfortunately, we had 6 students get ill at the Primary school today. We don’t know if the students have COVID, but we encouraged those parents to get the students tested. You will be contacted if your student had direct contact with any of these students. Safety is our number one priority, and we feel this is our best course of action at this time.
Monday is a holiday and there is no school. We will make a decision about our instructional model going forward once we get more information about these students. I will let you know our plan by the end of the day Monday.
Our School Based Health Clinic is open and available if you need them. I encourage you to see our nurse if you or your student isn’t feeling well. I encourage you to keep your student home if they are not feeling well or if they have a fever. When a student comes to school sick, it affects the entire district. One person can cause the entire school to have to shut down because of the contacts they might have. Please help us out.
Thanks for your cooperation, patience and understanding through this difficult and stressful time. Have a great evening.
Sincerely,
Tony Watts
