First Grade Community Service Learning Project

we're loving it

As a community service learning project, the First Grade Class at NPS will be collecting pull tabs to donate to Cincinnati’s Ronald McDonald House. We’re helping keep families together when it matters most, and we’re giving the students the joy of giving and teaching our students the value of recycling!

Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” for the families of critically ill children seeking medical treatment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Pull tabs are recycled to earn money to help provide all the comforts of “home” to these families. NPS can also earn rewards for participating in this program. Our goal is to become a member of the Thanks a Million Club by collecting 1,000 pounds of tabs and earn a visit from Ronald McDonald himself! We can also earn certificates of appreciation and gifts for increments of 250 and 500 pounds.

Students can start bringing tabs to school ASAP. We will be having a friendly competition among first grade classrooms.  Each class will weigh the tabs that they have collected each week on a balance scale and help in creating a graph in our hallway showing how much each room has collected. The classroom with the most by MONDAY, MAY 6th , will win a class McDonald’s shake party during school hours.

Thanks for all of your support,

The First Grade Teachers
