NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

NEWPORT'S NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

This is a crime prevention and safety awareness event, where Newport Officers and Firefighters will be there to talk with you about various was to make your neighborhood a safer place to live and work.  Click Here for more information.

Beginning August 1st - Monday 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.


Home Visits and Back to School Bash

Wednesday, August 10, 2016, is when the Newport Teachers and Staff will be making their Home Visits to students.  This is a wonderful opportunity for the parents and children to meet their teacher.  Later in the day, there will be another opportunity at the Back to School Bash, which will be held at the Newport High School football field.  Teachers and Staff will be there to greet and meet students and parents.  The Wildcat Hustle Fun Run is a new event at the bash - Click here for more information about the run and how you can participate.  The Back to School Bash event has been very well received in past years!  Please join us!

School Supplies

For the fourth year in a row, Newport Independent will cover all school supplies!  With the help from various organizations and Crayons 2 Computers; we want to reduce the financial stress on our students and families!  If you would like to donate some supplies, please contact your child's school or the Service Center at 292-3001.


2016 - 2017 Student Dress Code

ACCEPTABLE

Pants
Black, Brown or Khaki (light-dark tan)
Must Wear a belt
Must be worn at your waist

Shirts
Solid white, red, grey or black short or long sleeved polo
T-shirt (must be white, red, grey or black and crew neck ONLY)
Sweaters and cardigans (must be red, grey, white or black)
Sweatshirts (must be red, grey, white or black ONLY and hoods may not be worn during class)

Shoes
Street or tennis shoes
All shoes must be closed toe and heel

NOT ACCEPTABLE

Pants
Leggings, jeggings, or active wear (stretch pants)
Warm-ups

Shoes
No sandals, flip flops, or house shoes (slippers)

Other
Hat
Scarf worn on head
Do-rags
Gloves

**Administration has the right to adjust the dress code as needed.

It's "Game On" for summer reading at the Campbell County Library

 

Teens can read and win prizes this summer at the Campbell County Library. The Summer Reading kickoff is Saturday, June 4. The first 200 teens who register receive a color-changing water bottle. Stay for lunch and train for a flash mob.  Click here for all of the details.
