Class of 2015 Leaders

Katlyn Hoeh and Kayla Lumpkins hold the top spots in the Class of 2015.  Katlyn is this year's Valedictorian and Kayla is the Salutatorian.  Congratulations! Keep up the hard work as you go off to college.


State-Fish Art Contest

Congratulations to Newport High School Junior Maria Specht for her winning entry in the State-Fish art contest.  Maria placed third in the state of Ky. for her colored pencil drawing of a large-month bass and for her essay about bass habitat, behavior and conservation.


STLP Gives Gift to City

The Newport High School STLP team consisting of Miriah Combs, Sydney Bowman, McKenzie Farmer and Camara O'Brien presented the bench they created as a gift to the City of Newport at a City Commissioner's meeting on Monday, May 18.

NHS Band Concert

The Newport HS Band and Choir will be having their spring concert "A Night at the Movies" on Thursday May 28th at 7pm in the NHS Gymnasium.  They will be playing and singing music from "Robin Hood", "Les Miserables", and others.  The band will also be giving a sneak peak at the fall Marching Band show which the  students are very excited to share with every.   Hope to see everyone there.

Sports Awards for NHS and NMS in May

The High School Athletic Awards Banquet and the Middle School Athletic Recognition Night will both be celebrated in May. 


Summer Food Program

Newport Schools will sponsor the 2015 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) at the Newport Middle School and Newport Primary School this summer.


NHS Student Receives Art Award

NHS Art student, Samara Hall, was presented with the Eco-Art Award, Thursday, May 7. The Eco-Art Contest encourages Kentucky students to express their views on conservation, environmental protection and pollution prevention through various works of art.  Samara's winning entry will be displayed in Frankfort at the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection for one year.


Free Eye Exams at Wing Eyecare

Students may receive Free eye exams at Wing Eyecare, 142 Pavilion Parkway in Newport.  This offer is good until September 1, 2015.  Kentucky Vision forms may be picked up at all schools.  (859-292-9464)


NHS May Reader of the Month

Jordan Haste was nominated for Reader of the Month by Mr. Bramlage.  He admires her hard work and how she helps others to improve their reading skills.


NHS April Reader of the Month

The NHS April Reader of the Month is Shaylee Hall. She frequesntly has three or four books she is reading at the same time. Her love of reading inspires those around her and contributes to her academic success.


NHS March Reader of the Month

Sarah Hess was slected as the March Reader of the Month by Ms. Hart.  She uses the library extensively and has checked out numerous books this year.


Junior Achievement

On Tuesday, April 28, corporate volunteers from Junior Achievement came to Newport High School to work with sophomores and juniors. Students learned valuable lessons about what it takes to succeed in the business world.


Students Sign to Attend the University of the Cumberlands

Four student-athletes, Paul Price, Ben Senger, Dominick Joseph, and Gage Jones signed letters of intent to attend the University of the Cumberlands. The ceremony took place at NHS on Wednedsday, April 29.
