NHS Students Earn Microsoft Office Certification

Congratulations to  Caralyne Wallace,  Madison Plank, and Cheyenne Doyen for passing their Microsoft Office Certification in Excel. All of these young ladies have now passed their certification for Word and Excel. They have one more test to complete in PowerPoint and then they will be considered Microsoft Office Specialist. This is an amazing achievement for these young ladies! 

CTE Leadership Day

On a recent trip to Frankfort, Career & Technical Education (CTE) students heard from Mr. Matt Ruark, Kentucky Wesleyan College.  Mr. Ruark discussed citizenship in Kentucky and explained the importance of taking a stand with issues in our state.

Technology Showcase

Newport High School will be hosting a Technology Showcase on Friday, March 18th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.  This is not a competition, but an opportunity to demonstrate for parents and our community the innovative ways we are using technology to enhance learning in Newport Independent Schools.

January Reader of the Month

Brianna McKenzie was selected as the January Reader of the Month.  Ms. Hart nominated her because she is an avid reader and a regular visitor to the library.

Sweetheart Dance

Newport High School is having a Sweetheart Dance Friday, February 19, from 8-11 P.M. in the cafeteria.  Tickets are $5.00. Photos will be available through Ms. Stacey.

Youth Job Fair

The Northern Kentucky Career Center is sponsoring a Youth Job Fair, February 18, at the Newport branch of the Campbell County Library from 3-6 P.M. It is for ages 16-24. Full time and part time opportunities will be available with some of the most exciting companies in the area.  Click here for more information.

Gear Up Summer Academy

12th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Outreach Luncheon

NHS senior, Courtney Willingham, received the NAACP Scholarship at the 12th Annual Northern Kentucky Branch NAACP Reverend, Dr, Martin Luther King Jr. Community Outreach Luncheon, January 18, 2016, at the Newport Syndicate.  Joining Courtney were fellow students Wittney Hardin, Samara Hall, Shaylee Hall, Curissa Richardson, and Bralynn Joseph who volunteered to check coats and escort guests to their seats. Also in attendance were Donna Watts, Lisa Swanson, and Ramona Malone.

Off Season Conditioning for Football

Off season strength training sessions for football have begun. Those interested in playing football next year in grades 8 through 12 are welcome to attend after school sessions. The sessions are conducted on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the fitness center at the high school.

Kylie Orr All A Scholarship

 Kylie Orr is the winner of an All A Scholarship.  She will be recognized at the championship game of the girls tournament on Saturday, January 16th at halftime.  The championship game starts at 7:00, and Kylie will be called down to the floor at half time to be presented with a certificate.  Congratulations Kylie!
