Rusty Adams
District Technology Coordinator

The Technology Department of Newport Independent Schools believes that all Newport students and staff, can utilize technology to enhance their lives and careers. It is our mission to provide the resources and support for all our staff to adequately prepare students for success in an increasingly technical world.

Our Sysaid work order system provides a one (1) day turnaround for all reported issues.  We provide a full time School Technology Coordinator at each school; along with a district-wide technician housed in the Welcome Center.

All full-time teachers are issued an iPad and a MacBook.  Students in grades 9 – 12 are issued a MacBook; while students in grades 3 – 8 are 1:1 iPads.  In the near future, students in grades 1 – 8 will be issued 1:1 iPads – this will begin in the 2017 – 2018 school year.  Interactive boards and projectors are also available for all classrooms.

All three Newport Independent Schools participate in the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP).  Newport Schools currently hold the Gold Level status for each club, while the District has ranked the Platinum Level.
