NEWPORT PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
We believe that every child is special, smart and talented, and we know that when you choose our school, you have placed a great trust in us. At Newport Independent Preschool, the entire faculty expresses genuine love and respect for every child. We teach children to show respect and kindness to each other, creating a caring classroom of learners.
The Newport Independent Preschool Program collaborates with the Newport Early Childhood Initiative (NECI) which is comprised of Children's Inc., Head Start, Brighton Center, Success by Six, STRIVE and Northern Kentucky University. COR-Advantage is a researched-based assessment tool used to assist our teachers in supporting children at every developmental level including English Language Learners and those with special needs. COR-Advantage also provides administrators with more comprehensive reporting options to guide program planning and staff development.
Children attending Early Childhood programs have a greater success in school. We are proud to make a difference in the lives of the children we serve. Our preschool is state-funded through the Department of Education and we follow the goals of the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards.
Children learn best by doing, it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn firsthand about the world around us. Play provides a foundation for academic learning and helps children to become enthusiastic learners. We encourage children to be active, creative explorers and to become independent, self-confident inquisitive learners.
For a Child's Brain, Body, Heart & Soul
Newport Preschool rocks to Kindermusik
Children thrive on music. It’s one of the best vehicles for learning in early childhood development. Kindermusik takes musical learning to the next level; our curriculum is proven to improve a child’s brain development.
The ABC Music & Me program with certified instructors and curriculum uses music, stories and movement to prepare children
for educational opportunity. Certified ABC Music & Me instructor, Nancy Knauf, along with Newport (KY) Schools approached the foundation for funding. After a successful pilot program, the music curriculum was implemented in the Newport Primary School preschool classes for the 2014-15 school year. Embraced by Newport Primary's preschool teachers, students visit Knauf's classroom for activities centered around music and literacy that will better prepare them for kindergarten. Veteran teacher Kate Neikirk, who joins her classes in Knauf's classroom, sees the benefits of this program as the students further develop skills that will assist their success at the next level. This past year was filled with contributions that directly helped organizations and individuals within the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati area. The Clyde N. Day Foundation continues to support organizations, initiatives and individuals like the Newport Primary School as they pursue excellence.
All over the world, parents bond with their babies through musical sounds and rhythmic movement. They rock and swing their children, put them sleep with lullabies, make them laugh with nursery rhymes. Parents know instinctively what scientists have now proven: young children thrive on music. It's one of the best vehicles for learning in early childhood development. Kindermusik takes musical learning to the next level; our curriculum is proven to improve child brain development. And it's fun for parents too!
