Parent and Community Involvement Survey

Our district set three main goals when we started the 2012-2013 academic school year. Those goals were: (1) increase the percent of students at grade level in literacy, (2) ensure that everything we do revolves around data-driven decision making, and (3) increase transparent communication and build a culture of high expectations. As we continue to make strides in these areas, we also need to take a moment and gauge our progress towards parent and community involvement within our district.

In order to assist us with measuring parent and community involvement across the district, we have developed a survey to assist in collecting evidence towards progress in this area.   Please take a moment and complete the parent and community involvement survey. The survey will close on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 4:00PM. Thank you for all you do to support our students in Newport Independent Schools.

Newport Honors Mr. Bill Feldman

Newport Independent Schools honor and celebrate the life of
Mr. William “Bill” Feldman
1944 – 2012
Bill gave Newport Schools 36 years of dedication and touched the lives of thousands of students. Even in his retirement years, Bill had a dream to add a theater to the newer high school building so the students could perform on a stage.

In an effort to bring his dream to fruition, Mr. Feldman started a theater fund thru The Greater Cincinnati Foundation with funds he received, in lieu of gifts, when Bill married his wife, Diane.  Due to his declining health he turned the fund over to the district for future oversight.

Students Return To School

Mr. Bill Feldman still active in Newport Schools
Mr. Bill Feldman gave Newport Schools 36 years of service, but that did not stop after he retired.  Bill wanted the high school to have a theater, so he began a construction fund to make this dream come true.
The contributions for a theater stopped coming in and Bill was left with over $10,000; which was not enough to construct a theater. Mr. Feldman met with Superintendent Middleton and it was decided that this money would be dedicated to the Fine Arts Program. Mr. Feldman was recognized at the July Board Meeting for his years of service and dedication to Newport Schools.
