Getting to Know our NEW Newport Schools

As part of the University of Louisville; ABRI (Academic and Behavioral Response to Intervention) has been working in Newport Schools for years.  ABRI is an outside group that “… is structured to provide state-wide access to support with the emphasis on creating an infrastructure toward sustainability and capacity building within schools and educational cooperatives.”  Part of their goal is the evaluation of social/academic outcomes for all students in Kentucky.  Last month, in a meeting with our leaders, this group used the term, “The New Newport Schools” to describe our district’s emerging transformation.

ArtsWave Survey

Are our children receiving a comprehensive, balanced education? A comprehensive, balanced education includes the ARTS – dance, drama/theatre, music, visual arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery, etc.). The future of the community depends on our children’s ability to create – and to be creative. If the community is to continue to meet the challenges of the future, today’s schools need to develop innovative leaders and creative problem–solvers.

The Newport Schools, in partnership with ArtsWave is conducting a Community Audit for Arts Education to seek ways to improve ARTS education in the schools. Your input is necessary for the audit to be successful. Would you please take a few moments to answer a survey
