Timeline, Directions, Status

 

Status: 4/25: OneDrive Migration is complete. All content from OneDrive accounts active in the last 180 days has migrated. Contact your school STC if you believe you have missing content. This is the last update. Migration is complete!

STATUS: 4/22 - You may access webmail, Google Suite, and reconnect to clients (Outlook, Mail Apps, etc.) now. OneDrive content is still migrating.

Status: 4/4/18 - Premigration. Any mailbox cleanup should already be completed. 

Status: 4/19/18 - Migration beginning. No access to email, OneDrive, or Google Suite.

Status: 4/20/18 8 AM - Migration in progress. No access to email, OneDrive or Google Suite. Beginning work to reconnect to Google Suite.

Status: 4/20/18 12PM - Migration in progress.No access to email or OneDrive. Staff can attempt to access Google Apps, but there may be some intermittent access issues as noted in the update.

Status: 4/20/18 2 PM - Staff mailboxes migrated, KETS Security team moving to necessary naming and cleanup phases before we can begin to reestablish client connections.

Newport (O365)

  • First MX Flip: Completed
  • First Rename: Completed
  • Domain Removal from Megatenant: Completed
  • Domain Addition to Destination Tenant: Completed
    • YOU MAY NOW CONFIGURE GOOGLE SSO. HOWEVER, UNTIL ALL OF THE SECOND RENAMES ARE COMPLETED IN THE NEW DISTRICT TENANT, ACCESS MAY BE INTERMITTENT DEPENDING WHETHER OR NOT A PARTICULAR USER’S ACCOUNT HAS BEEN RENAMED YET.
  • Confirm Forwarding in Megatenant: Completed
  • Second Rename: Complete (KETS Security team, you can perform the second MX flip)
  • Staff mailbox migration: Complete
  • Second MX Flip: Not Started
  • Final cleanup: Not Started
  • Guest Account Creation: Not Started

 

 

 

Our district mail migration is set to begin on Thursday, April 19 at 4:30 PM. E-mail access may return as soon as Friday, April 20, but be prepared to be without e-mail the entire weekend. OneDrive content will not migrate until after e-mail is complete and may take several days to finish.

All users should sign out of all "newport.kyschools.us e-mail", Office365, Skype and OneDrive accounts on computers, phones, and other devices by 4 PM on April 19th. Directions are included below. (Thanks to Dayton Schools, who have already gone through this process, we are able to borrow and modify the directions below.)

Premigration Tasks (must be done just prior to migration kickoff).

2. Select, Sign Out

Different versions of Andriods may have different steps to remove the account.  Generally, locate your school account in settings and remove.  If using the GMail App to access school email, locate your school account and remove from the GMail App.

 

Windows
1. Right Click the OneDrive icon in taskbar
2. Click Settings
3. Click Stop Syncing
4. Click Unlink Account
Note: Files will stay on your computer

 

 

MacBook

2. Touch Account & Passwords

2. Click Gear icon
3. Click Preferences
4. Click Account
5. Click Unlink this Mac
6. Confirm by clicking the Unlink Account button
Note: Files will stay on your computer

3. Touch Exchange (or other Label for school email. Exchange is dafault label)
4. Touch your email address
5. Touch Delete Account
6. Confirm Deleting of Account

 

Mobile Devices

1. Open OneDrive mobile App
2. Touch Me (bottom right)
3. Touch Sign Out (Android) or Sign Out of this Account (iOS)

Mail: Mac OSX client: (MacBooks)

1. Click on System Preferences

2. Click on Internet Accounts

3. Click on "old" school e-mail accounts and hit the minus sign to remove them.

Mail: Mac Outlook Client: (MacBooks)

1. Open Outlook

2. Click on Tools in the menu bar and go to Accounts.

3. Highlight and remove the old account.

 

1. Launch Skpe App
2. Click on the arrow next to the gear icon Skype Settings icon (top right)
3. Click File
4. Click on Sign Out
5. Click the Delete my sign-in Info link
6. Click Yes to confirm

 

 Migration Phase: (April 19-22) - While Migration is in progress, no action is required.

 

NO ACCESS:

ACCESS  (uninterrupted service during migration):

  • Infinite Campus
  • MUNIS
  • District & School Websites

Go ahead and clear your web browser cache.

Clear Browser Cache (Note that these directions may differ slightly for the MacOS running on the Macbook Computers)

Safari

1. Launch Safari
2. Click History
3. Click Clear History
4. in the Clear, drop-down menu, select All History
5. Click Clear History
6. Quit the Safari Application (COMMAND+Q or Safari to Quit) and re-open the browser

Firefox

1. From the History menu, select Clear Resent History
2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select everything
3. Next to "Details", click the down arrow to choose which elements of the history to clear; to clear your entire cache, select all items
4. Click Clear Now
5. Exit/Quit all browser windows/tabs and re-open the browser

Microsoft Edge

  1. In the top right, click the Hub icon (looks like star with three horizontal lines).
  2. Click the History icon (looks like a clock), and then select Clear all history.
  3. Select Browsing history, then Cookies and saved website data, and then Cached data and files. Click Clear.
  4. After the "All Clear!" message appears, exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Chrome

  1. In the browser bar, enter:

chrome://settings/clearBrowserData

  1. At the top of the "Clear browsing data" window, click Advanced.
  2. Select the following:
    • Browsing history
    • Download history
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files

From the "Time range" drop-down menu, you can choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information. To clear your entire cache, select All time.

  1. Click CLEAR DATA.
  2. Exit/quit all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Internet Explorer 11

Delete Internet Explorer 11 Cache

On any Internet Explorer 11 window, use the "Ctrl-Shift-Del" shortcut to bring up the Delete Browsing History pop-up window.  To delete the Web cache, uncheck all options except for "Temporary Internet Files and Website Files" and "Cookies and Website Data," then click "Delete." If you prefer setting Internet Explorer 11 to automatically, delete the Web cache when exiting the browser each time, press "Alt-X," then select "Internet Options." Under the General tab, check the "Delete Browsing History on Exit" option, and then click "Apply." Automating this process, however, also causes Internet Explorer 11 to delete data such as download history, form data, passwords, and favorite website data, in addition to the cached Web content.

Post Migration (Finishing Up, reconnecting accounts) 

Priority #1:  STAFF AND STUDENT EMAIL ACCESS via WEBMAIL (Verify you can access via webmail before adding clients please)

You will need to manually re-configure your email

1. Click Start button and type Control Panel
2. Click Control Panel
3. Select Categories it top right and change to Large Icons
4. Click Mail icon
5. Click Show Profiles
6. Click Outlook Profile
7. Click Remove
8. Click Apply and then OK
9. Launch the Outlook Client to start the Setup Wizard.

3. (if prompted) Work or School
4. enter your email password
5. Click Choose OneDrive Folder Location
6. Select your previous OneDrive location (may already show up)
7. Click Choose this Location
8. Click Next
9. Select Use This Location - This will ensure that your old files automatically get uploaded to the new OneDrive for Business account
